Synecdoche Dance Company

Synecdoche Dance Company is a New Orleans project-based company creating experimental performance while promoting dancer health, agency, and accessibility in the arts.

We believe:

  • That experimental performance serves an essential function by stimulating creativity and innovation within the community at large

  • That dancers should be compensated adequately for their time and skillful contributions to performance works

  • dancers should be celebrated for the unique, individual gifts that each of them bring to a creative project

  • accessibility should be foregrounded in creative process

  • accessibility should be foregrounded in audience experience

  • in physically-integrated spaces in mainstream dance. This includes accessibility for performers, students, educators, choreographers, and audiences

  • in audience education. This may include access to behind-the-scenes interviews that elucidate the process and concept of a work, post-show Q&A’s, dramaturgical writings about the work, etc.
